Mpui Parish Borehole

During our visits and conversations with our partners in Mpui, it was confirmed this was one of the worst water situations in the area. With only two surface water locations serving a village of several thousand people this community deals with insufficient water supply in the dry-season and unsafe water in the wet season. The Rukwa Foundation was pleased to support this project to install a new borehole.

The new borehole was developed in 2022 and the first bucket of clean, clear water was tapped in October of 2022. It is over 130M deep and was installed with public taps and two large storage tanks to store the excess supply. This borehole now provides Mpui with 18-25 liters of clean water per family per day.
