St. Adolph Kindergarten

When the Rukwa Foundation wanted to establish themselves in the Sumbawanga region we were hosted by Fr. Pontiano Chomba and Fr. Geoffrey Kitaya at their home parish of St. Adolf’s in Mwayze. The meeting brought people from all over the region to help the Rukwa Foundation refine its mission and focus its priorities for the coming years. This stakeholder meeting was highly successful and lead directly to almost all of the projects you see highlighted on these pages. The actual physical meeting was held in the old classrooms of St Adolph’s kindergarten.

The Rukwa Foundation board felt it appropriate that we start our interventions with the team and the people who helped us establish ourself so we made two successive grants to help Fr. Geoffrey renovate the kindergarten and its supporting infrastructure. The project was extremely successful and we are happy to report the kindergarten now serves over 90 students. This pre-school educational intervention is critical to student’s future success in primary school and essential for the families who need day-care in order to work agricultural jobs in the area.
